GHEEM Sookyoung(b. 1992) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Paris, whose work explores the impact of subterranean forms in our daily lives. Her practice is influenced by her experience of moving from place to place and perceiving the changes in each living space through metaphysical concepts like time difference, smell, language, and atmosphere. She uses organic materials based on their potential for transformation and intrinsic properties to create assemblages that reconstruct conflicting moments between the individual and the external environment. Her work addresses the discomfort and anxiety she experienced when adapting to new environments, inviting viewers to explore how intangible fragments in our daily lives affect us.

GHEEM's artistic practice is an unfinished form that evolves according to the environment surrounding the work. She draws on her internal movements to create works that picture each individual affected by their surroundings, dissolving into new environments and relationships with various forms of life and society. Through her assemblages, she offers comfort to those who engage with her work, revealing the complex relationship between objects and their surroundings. Her work adapts to the environment surrounding it, reflecting the ever-changing nature of the world and our connection to it. GHEEM's art invites us to explore the intangible fragments that shape our daily lives and the profound impact they have on us.
